Burger Recipe
Ingredients
For the Burger Patties:
- 500g (1 lb) ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat for juiciness)
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- 1 tsp onion powder (optional)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional, for flavor)
For the Burger:
- 4 burger buns
- 4 slices of cheese (optional, for cheeseburgers)
- Lettuce leaves
- Tomato slices
- Onion rings
- Pickles (optional)
- Condiments: ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, or any sauce you like
Optional Add-ons:
- Bacon strips
- Avocado slices
- Jalapeños
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Patties
- In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt, pepper, and optional seasonings (garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce). Do not overmix, as it can make the meat dense.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, about ¾ inch thick. Press a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent puffing during cooking.
- Refrigerate the patties for 15–20 minutes to firm up.
Step 2: Cook the Patties
- Heat a grill, grill pan, or skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the surface to prevent sticking.
- Cook the patties for 3–4 minutes on each side for medium doneness (adjust time for desired level). Add a slice of cheese during the last minute if making cheeseburgers.
- Remove the patties from the heat and let them rest for a few minutes.
Step 3: Toast the Buns
- Slice the burger buns in half.
- Toast them lightly on the grill or in a pan with a little butter for added flavor.
Step 4: Assemble the Burger
- Spread your favorite condiments on the bottom half of the bun.
- Layer lettuce, a cooked patty, tomato slices, onion rings, and pickles.
- Add any additional toppings you like, then place the top half of the bun on top.
Step 5: Serve
- Serve your burgers immediately with fries, coleslaw, or a fresh salad on the side.
Tips for Variations
- Chicken Burger: Use ground chicken with similar seasonings.
- Vegetarian Burger: Substitute with a veggie patty made from black beans, chickpeas, or mushrooms.
- Flavor Boosts: Add BBQ sauce, caramelized onions, or a fried egg for extra flavor.
